چکیده

The mechanism that allows a sensory neuron to extend its terminal branches along the appropriate fascicle within the CNS turns out to be the same as that which positioned the fascicle earlier on, and the gene that controls this position is the same as that which determined the neuron's identity.

On Regularizing Rademacher Observation Losses

It has recently been shown that supervised learning linear classifiers with two of the most popular losses, the logistic and square loss, is equivalent to optimizing an equivalent loss over sufficient statistics about the class: Rademacher observations (rados). It has also been shown that learning over rados brings solutions to two prominent problems for which the state of the art of learning f...

Depth of anesthesia estimation based on EEG signal using brain effective connectivity between frontal and temporal regions

Background: Ensuring adequate depth of anesthesia during surgery is essential for anesthesiologists to prevent the occurrence of unwanted alertness during surgery or failure to return to consciousness. Since the purpose of using anesthetics is to affect the central nervous system, brain signal processing such as electroencephalography (EEG) can be used to predict different levels of anesthesia....

REPETITA: Repeatable Experiments for Performance Evaluation of Traffic-Engineering Algorithms

In this paper, we propose a pragmatic approach to improve reproducibility of experimental analyses of traffic engineering (TE) algorithms, whose implementation, evaluation and comparison are currently hard to replicate. Our envisioned goal is to enable universally-checkable experiments of existing and future TE algorithms. We describe the design and implementation of REPETITA, a software framew...

Neuroprotection of a sesamin derivative, 1, 2-bis [(3-methoxy- phenyl) methyl] ethane-1, 2-dicaroxylic acid (MMEDA) against ischemic and hypoxic neuronal injury

Objective(s): Stroke may cause severe neuronal damage. The sesamin have been demonstrated to possess neuroprotection by its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. One sesamin derivative was artificially composited, 1, 2-bis [(3-methoxyphenyl) methyl] ethane-1, 2-dicaroxylic acid (MMEDA) had been developed to study its antioxidative activity and neuroprotection. Materials and Methods: The...

From BLISS to ILLUMINATE studies: "Blys repetita placent"?

Although disappointing, the results of the ILLUMINATE trials are read with great attention. 2 These trials assessed the efficacy of tabalumab, a B lymphocyte stimulator (Blys) inhibitor, in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Unfortunately, the results were not considered by Lilly worth following the development of this new agent, of the same therapeutic class than belimumab, the first biologic...
